Peacehaven and Trillium Partner to Address Caregiver Challenges and Build Inclusive Community

WHITSETT, N.C. – Peacehaven and Trillium Health Resources today announced a new strategic partnership aimed at addressing one of the most urgent and overlooked needs facing North Carolina families: the growing strain on caregivers of adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) and the increasing isolation experienced by the individuals they support.

Launched in recognition of National Family Caregivers Month, this collaboration shines a light on the dual challenge families face — caregivers who desperately need time to rest and recharge, and adults with I/DD who thrive when deeply connected to community. Together, Peacehaven and Trillium are developing a long-term strategy to strengthen both sides of this equation through integrated, inclusive approaches that build belonging, reduce isolation, and create sustainable pathways for well-being.“

Peacehaven, known for its inclusive 89-acre campus where people of all abilities live, learn, work, and play together, has long been committed to solving for isolation by building community. Trillium’s collaboration reflects a shared belief that innovative models of support and bold partnerships are needed to meet the growing demand for caregiver respite and community-based engagement opportunities.

Over the coming months, Peacehaven and Trillium will convene families, self-advocates, care professionals, and community partners to further shape initiatives that support caregiver wellbeing and expand inclusive opportunities for adults with I/DD. This joint effort reflects a shared commitment to building systems of care that are proactive, not reactive, and that recognize the interconnected needs of the entire family.
