What is the GrowSmart EPSDT initiative?
Every parent wants their child to grow up healthy and happy. That’s why Trillium’s System of Care and Pediatric Care Management teams recently launched GrowSmart EPSDT.
EPSDT stands for Early and Periodic Screening, Diagnostic, and Treatment. It is a Medicaid benefit that helps children and youth, up to age 21, get regular checkups and care to stay healthy. GrowSmart helps families learn how to use their EPSDT benefits and why it matters. Regular checkups let doctors find health problems early and see how your child is growing.
Each month, a Trillium team member will call Medicaid members who get EPSDT benefits to share GrowSmart tips. These tips are easy to understand and focus on your child’s growth and health. Topics are different each month depending on awareness campaigns and health issues that affect individuals in the Trillium region. Our goal is to give you helpful information right when you need it. For example, in January, the GrowSmart topic was lead safety because it was Lead Awareness Month. In February, the topic will be dental health, with simple ways to keep your child’s smile bright and healthy.
