Trillium’s Play Together! Accessible Playground Grants have provided communities with the ability to build fully accessible, inclusive playgrounds for individuals with intellectual, developmental and physical disabilities. We are thrilled to have provided these grants to 43 locations and counting for individuals with special needs and physical disabilities across communities throughout North Carolina.

Playgrounds have equipment and features to give individuals of all ages and abilities the chance to play together outside. Features can include:

  • Rubberized surface for wheelchairs and other assistive devices to travel over more smoothly
  • Equipment for those with sensory issues
  • Full support swings
  • Liberty Swing that can be used with a wheelchair
  • Doublewide ramps
