The North Carolina Division of Mental Health, Developmental Disabilities and Substance Use Services (DMHDDSUS) and Trillium Health Resources Announce New Partnership with Attend Behavior to Expand Family Support Services for Autism, ADHD, and Intellectual Disabilities

GREENVILLE, N.C. – The Division of Mental Health, Developmental Disabilities and Substance Use Services (DMHDDSUS), in collaboration with Trillium Health Resources, has partnered with Attend Behavior to deliver innovative, technology-enabled caregiver support across 46 counties. This initiative will bring immediate, virtual access to evidence-based family guidance and parent training for families of children with Autism Spectrum Disorder, Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), and Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (I/DD). We are especially excited to make this announcement during Autism Acceptance Month, a time to recognize and celebrate the unique abilities of those with Autism.

Backed by Trillium’s investment in improving access to care, this partnership represents a strategic effort to address the critical shortage of direct support professionals in North Carolina while ensuring children and their caregivers receive timely, high-quality intervention. Trillium currently serves 38,502 children across the state who are diagnosed with behavioral health conditions, Autism, and/or I/DD.

Through Attend Behavior, eligible families will have access to:

  • A library of guided caregiver lessons and tools rooted in best practices from Applied Behavior Analysis and other behavioral science frameworks
  • Support from trained support specialists
  • Real-time progress tracking, check-ins, and coaching to support consistent learning and skill development at home
  • A private online community of caregivers facing similar challenges

The Attend platform ensures that families can begin receiving support immediately—whether they are waiting for a diagnosis, formal services, or navigating day-to-day behavioral challenges. Services will be available beginning in late April 2025.

“Services like Attend’s virtual family guidance are critical to improving access to care across North Carolina,” said Cindy Ehlers, Chief Strategy and Innovation Officer at Trillium. “We know families often face long wait times for diagnosis and treatment. Attend meets families where they are, providing practical tools, therapeutic guidance, and a pathway to hope and progress. We’re excited to expand this support to families across our network.”

"At Attend Behavior, we believe that empowering caregivers is the most powerful way to create meaningful, lasting change for children with behavioral challenges. We are proud to partner with Trillium and DMHDDSUS to bring accessible, evidence-based support directly into homes—transforming waiting time into learning time, and uncertainty into action,” stated Alan Fullbright Chief Product Officer, Attend Behavior.

“What an exciting opportunity for parents and caregivers to have access to professional supports at anytime, anywhere, especially while they are waiting for critical services,” said Kelly Crosbie, Director of the DMHDDSUS. “The Attend Behavior App helps transform the way families and clinicians work together and provides needed support in areas where there may not be immediate access to those services.”

Those who are interested in using the Attend platform for their child can complete the Attend|Behavior Interest Form.
