Healthcare, Equity, and You
The International Day for Remembrance of the Slave Trade and Its Abolition takes place on August 23. On this day in 1791, slaves on the island of Saint Domingue (now known as Haiti) started what became the largest and most successful slave revolt in history. Slavery eventually ended in the United States in 1863 with the Emancipation Proclamation. However, the long-term effects of slavery still exist, such as in health outcomes for people of color*. Trillium is focused on helping ensure equal access to health care for everyone in our region.
