Two new courses now available focus on the core of mental well-being, building resilience and recognizing when someone may need help.

Recovery and Resilience
Resilience is crucial for mental health because life comes with stress, setbacks, and unexpected change. Whether it’s losing a job, facing illness, struggling with relationships, or living with trauma or a mental health condition—resilience helps people cope with stressors, recover faster, and maintain hope and confidence.
By the end of this training, you will be able to:
- Identify the Four Dimensions of Supporting a Life in Recovery and the 10 Principles of Recovery.
- Explain resilience and steps to build resiliency.
- Discuss mentally strong habits that support resilience.
- Describe what a Recovery-Oriented System of Care looks like.
This course offers both inspiration and practical strategies to strengthen recovery and resilience every day.
How to Recognize Mental Health Disorders
One in five adults in the US experience mental illness each year according to the National Institute on Mental Illness (NAMI). NAMI also reports one in six US youth ages 6-17 experience a mental health disorder annually.
These numbers remind us that mental health touches nearly every family and community. Early detection can make a significant difference: Individuals can access care and resources before symptoms become more severe or harder to manage.
This training helps members and families spot the signs early and know when to reach out for help. It covers:
- What mental health disorders are
- Common warning signs and symptoms
- Causes and risk factors
- Where to turn for help and support
By the end of this course, you’ll feel more confident in recognizing mental health challenges and understanding the steps toward seeking care.
Why My Learning Campus trainings Matter
Mental health touches every part of life. It impacts us at home, at work, in classrooms, and across our communities. With the right tools, we can better empathize with others, reduce stigma to ask for and give help, and build confidence in offering support. When people feel prepared to talk about mental health and know where to turn for help, entire communities become more connected and resilient. My Learning Campus allows members and their families to:
- Be empowered with tools to support well-being
- Gain practical knowledge in easy-to-understand language
- Connect to resources that can make a difference in their short and long-term health and wellness.
As we recognize Mental Health Awareness Week and World Mental Health Day, Trillium reaffirms our commitment to making learning accessible, relevant, and impactful. We invite you to explore these trainings and share what you’ve learned with those around you.
Take a Deeper Dive with Mental Health First Aid and QPR trainings
After building your foundation through My Learning Campus, you can take the next step with Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) and QPR (Question, Persuade, Refer). These interactive trainings go beyond awareness to give you the practical skills and confidence to recognize, respond to, and support someone facing a mental health crisis.
Mental Health First Aid
MHFA prepares participants to identify, understand, and respond to signs of mental illness and substance use disorders. Just as CPR equips people to respond in a physical emergency, MHFA empowers individuals to act in a mental health crisis. There are three main versions of the training that Trillium offers.
- Youth MHFA: Helps adults support young people (ages 12-18) who may be experiencing a mental health or substance use challenge.
- Adult MHFA: Equips adults to recognize and respond to mental health concerns in other adults.
- Teen MHFA: Designed specifically for teens (ages 15-18), this training teaches young people how to recognize the signs of mental health challenges among their peers and connect them with trusted adults for support.
These trainings are impactful because they encourage early intervention, reduce stigma through understanding, and strengthen community bonds.
Want to go deeper on Mental Health First Aid (MHFA)?
We’ve covered the essentials in our earlier blog post — What Is Mental Health First Aid — but if you're ready to dig in further, check out the Trillium Talks episode where we explore the stories behind MHFA from the voices of both a trainer and participant. The episode is located at the top of the blog post. It’s a great companion to the new training opportunities we're spotlighting here — give it a listen (or read) to witness the difference MHFA makes in our communities!
QPR: Question, Persuade, Refer
QPR is a suicide prevention program built on three simple, life-saving steps:
- Question a person about suicidal thoughts.
- Persuade them to seek and accept help.
- Refer them to appropriate support and resources.
QPR is quick to learn, highly effective, and accessible to everyone, teachers, parents, coworkers, and friends alike. It helps break the silence around suicide and equips people with the confidence to act when it matters most.

Why These Trainings Matter — and How You Can Act Now
Across our communities, people are eager to learn, connect, and support one another’s mental well-being. That shared willingness is powerful and needed now more than ever. Among teenagers, more than 20 percent now have a diagnosed mental or behavioral health condition. These rates have climbed significantly over the past decade. Meanwhile, in the adult population, 61.5 million adults in the US reported any mental illness in 2024. These numbers remind us: mental health, like physical health, impacts us all.
Pressures at home, at work, and in society are causing increasing strain. According to the US Department of Health and Human Services, 84 percent of respondents say their workplace has contributed to mental health challenges. That stress and feelings of burnout, loneliness, and financial anxiety— when spread across families, workplaces, and care systems — ripple outward.
That’s why resources like My Learning Campus and trainings like Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) and QPR matter so much: they bridge awareness and action. They give everyday individuals the confidence to recognize red flags, ask the right questions, and guide someone to help. Begin with foundational, self-paced modules through My Learning Campus, then level up into MHFA or QPR to gain real-world skills. Each training strengthens our collective resilience and helps build a culture where no one faces mental health challenges alone.
