Choose Independence

Choose Independence is Trillium's assistive technology and home modification benefit under the Innovations Waiver. Designed to promote self-sufficiency and reduce institutionalization, the program funds individualized supports such as wheelchair ramps, stair lifts, adaptive tablets, and automated medication reminders. 

Each approved request may receive up to $7,500 in funding. The initiative directly supports members with I/DD in maintaining safe, stable, and accessible home environments-and empowers families to customize care without unnecessary delays or red tape. 

Since its launch in 2023, Choose Independence has grown into a cornerstone of Trillium's community-living strategy, driving measurable improvements in independence, satisfaction, and cost-efficiency.
